Russian Language Excluded from Kyiv State Schooling – Kyiv Post

Kyiv Town Council has entirely excluded the Russian language from currently being taught as part of the curricula at municipal establishments of preschool and normal secondary schooling.

According to the Kyiv Town Council’s press support, Kyiv Town Council held a vote on Thursday, Nov. 10, in which 64 community lawmakers of the 120-member council accredited the exclusion of Russian language from regional education.

According to regional lawmaker Vadym Vasylchuk, who is also chairman of the Standing Committee on Training and Science, Family members, Youth, and Sports activities, in the latest disorders of war with the Russian Federation, it is inappropriate and incorrect to perform the instructional system and examine of Russian  in preschool and basic secondary education establishments that belong to the communal house of the territorial group of Kyiv.

“Russian leaders have mentioned repeatedly that ‘Russia reaches as significantly as the Russian language is spread.’ In this regard, the deputy corps of Kyiv City Council has adopted a selection that will help it to steer clear of escalation of rigidity in society and step  up security of the academic room of Kyiv from the hybrid influences of the aggressor condition. Kyiv Town Council also options to introduce a moratorium on the community use of Russian-language cultural products in the capital.

At the close of June, Odesa Region and the metropolis of Mykolaiv eliminated Russian from their school curriculum.
